Having visited Germany during the end of Oktoberfest, I started thinking about my own country's history in the brewing business. What 1 guickly learned was that America's most famous invention is "lite" beer, which Miller debuted the same year I was born (1967), making us both 40 this year. There's something about those few years leading up to 40 and the actual year that causes one to conduct some self-examination. What am I? What have I accomplished? In the instance of Miller, the brand accomplished a lot in the past 40 years, as light varieties of beer remain the top-selling category in the United States.
