Growing consumer awareness of health and well-being is having a direct impact on manufacturers in the beverage sector. Consumers are increasingly opting for the 'healthier option' and demand products that offer proven physiological health benefits. Manufacturers have been enriching water with added ingredients for a number of years to provide consumers with added health benefits and give a point of difference on shelf. Added vitamins, calcium and other minerals have all proven popular with consumers. Beneo inulin and oligofructose, also known as prebiotics, are becoming increasingly active in this arena due to their significant technical and nutritional functions.
