This paper presents the design process, the structural analysis and the characteristics of a hollow, cylindrical monopost entirely made of composites. This translucent structure is 40 m high, for an external diameter of 1.60 m and an average wall thickness of 11 mm. The material is a polymer made of vinylester resin reinforced with glass fibre [GFRP]. The manufacturing process is filament winding. Due to its geographical situation, the structure has to withstand wind speeds" above 180 km/h and the elastic modulus of the material should not exceed 25 GPa.
