摘要

In the Eastern part of China, there is a wide flat plain where major grain crops such as wheat, rice and maize are cultivated extensively. Agricultural land use in this area, however, might be altered in recent years due to the economic growth of thiscountry and also the change in demand for food crops. According to the statistic data provided by FAO, the harvested area of wheat in China recorded the maximum amount in 1991 and then it has gradually decreased to about 70 % of the maximum in 2003. The harvested areas of rice and maize as well showed decreasing tendency in the late 1990s.
