Mitsui Mining and Smelting Raises Zinc Price by 5,000 yen

Japanese official zinc price hit another record high only 4 days after it hit 6 and half years high. Mitsui Mining and Smelting increased the official price by 5,000 yen to 188,000 yen per tonne for February shipment on Friday. The averaged monthly price increased by 1,800 yen to 182,700 yen. The hike after 5,000 yen hike on February 14 increased the price by 5 percent in the month and by 10 percent from the beginning of the year. The official price is the highest level since 192,000 yen per tonne in August 1998.
