Shanghai Baosteel to Expand 30MT of Raw Steel Output by 2010

Chairman Xie Qihua of Shanghai Baosteel Group said to a reporter of Japan Metal Bulletin the firm will expand the raw steel output capacity to 30 million by revamping and utilizing existing facilities and adjusting products mix under the next 5-year plan starting 2006. The firm commits 30 million tonnes of raw steel output while it targets 40 million tonnes and it eyes 50 million tonnes depending on adjustment of Chinese steel industry and the market.
