Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) released an estimate that Japan's crude steel production in fiscal 2002 ending March 2003 will dip to some 95 million tons as opposed to some 100 million tons projected for the current fiscal period ending March 2002.JISF reduced 5 million tons off this year's figure as the federation foresees declining demand from civil works, construction and manufacturing sectors in the domestic market and a substantial drop in exports to Southeast Asia and other destinations due to the continuing slow-down in the world economy.
