Furukawa Denshi Seeks 50 percent Price Hike for Metallic Arsenic

Furukawa's electronic materials making subsidiary, Furukawa Denshi will increase the selling price of the core product of high-purity metallic arsenic for the first time in 5 years to cover higher cost to reduce arsenic in the waste water. The firm already asked major users including compound semiconductor makers to increase the price by more than 50 percent. The firm tries to conclude the negotiation and realizes the hike for April 2006 shipment. The firm improves the profitability and invests for environmental actions including recycling.
