Along with Tohoku University and Tohoku National Industrial Research Institute, which is a research body of Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Daido Steel Co. Ltd. and Tohoku Steel Co. Ltd., the have developed TICS, a new environment-friendly free-cutting stainless steel.TICS uses titanium carbonic sulfide as its additive instead of lead technological process for mass production has also been established.
