World crude steel capacity for some 75 million tons is likely to be slashed by 2005 and that for another 23 million tons eliminated by 2010 for a maximum total decrease of 97.50 million tons.Governments participating in the high-level OECD steel meeting held in Paris on December 17 and 18 presented their projections for capacity reduction, marking a step toward scrapping inefficient steel production facilities on a global basis.
