摘要

Japanese Federation of Iron and Steel Workers' Unions has issued an estimate that the country's raw steel output for fiscal 2002 and 2003 will total some 90 million tons apiece. Compared with the Japan Iron and Steel Federation's forecast of 99 million tons for fiscal 2001, the Unions' figure represents a drastic reduction of about 9 million tons. The Unions explained that when it was assumed in drawing up the projection that major integrated steelmakers would carry out all three measures they had announced in order to restore an adequate pricing level of steel products and prop up the market, the resultant figure cam to about 90 million tons apiece.
