Sumitomo Metal Mining to Set up Joint Venture in Philippines

Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. will establish a joint venture in the Philippines to construct a plant adjacent to the Rio Tuba mine to produce intermediate electrolytic nickel product.The new plant will use high-pressure sulfuric acid leaching process (HPAL). Feedstock, which is low-grade nickel oxide ore, will be supplied from the mine.
