Establishment of Methodologies for Low-Carbon Rural Development through Efficient Utilization of Local Resources

Life is tough in Burkina Faso. Nearly half (44.6%) of the people live on less than USD 1.25 a day, and 80% of the whole population remain in rural areas. The nation's key industry is agriculture, and although more than 80% of the labor force is engaged in agriculture, it only contributes 33% of gross domestic product (GDP). On the other hand, agricultural activities constitute 72% of GHG emissions in Burkina Faso.In this regard, a project aimed at solving constraints in rural areas through effective use of local resources is being developed. Efforts are being made to ensure that it will be as climate-friendly as possible.
