Located in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, the Montney formation is a major resource for uncon ventional oil and gas. The formation contains trapped natural gas reservoirs in low-permeability siltstone and dark gray shale outfitted with natural geological fractures. For onshore drillers, navigating through these natural frac tures is a difficult task, and failing to do so can lead to a number of drilling obstacles.
