Try to imagine a world without coatings. I picture something resembling the post-apocalyptic realm of the Mad Max cult films of the '80s. Bleak and decaying—a world without beauty or order. Fortunately, that place only exists in the movies, thanks in large part to the pervasive power of coatings to enhance and protect our world. The ability of paints and coatings to preserve the things that are part of our daily lives is evident all around us—from the cars we drive to the bridges we travel across, from the massive ships that transport goods across the oceans to the pocket-sized smartphones that we refuse to put down.
