each year, with its R&D 100 Awards, R&D Magazine recognizes 100 of the most technologically significant products introduced into the marketplace over the past year. In 2013, the 51st set of winners recognizes technologies in a wide range of fields, including telecommunications, optics, high-energy physics, materials science, chemistry, and biotechnology. The researchers behind these winning technologies come from established Fortune 500 companies, startup businesses, and federally funded research institutions. Notably, 42 of the winning technologies were developed through collaborative efforts, often between industry and academia. Six of the 100 winning technologies in 2013 are coatings-related.
