BASF to Build Polyurethane Facility in Louisiana

BASF will build a Polyurethane Systems House in Geismar, LA. The planned $42 million facility will create 22 new jobs and over 160 construction jobs. The location will blend polyurethane raw materials to deliver customized products to customers in the transportation, furniture, and construction industries. Construction is slated to begin in the second quarter of 2014. BASF currently has 40 such system houses in its global network. The new facility will develop, serve, and manufacture polyurethane systems for a wide range of applications. The company also intends it to improve reaction speed and service to customer and market needs in North America. BASF already has other Louisiana manufacturing operations in Geismar, Zachary, and Vidalia, which employ nearly 2,000 staff total.
