IPPIC Seeks Addition of Packing Provision for Paints from UN Subcommittee

ACA, as part of the International Paint and Printing Inks Council (IPPIC), is developing a proposal to ask for a Class 9 proper shipping name for paint and paint-related materials before the United Nations' Subcommittee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (UNSCET- DG). A related proposal will also seek permission to ship Class 9 products in plastic containers of 30 liters or less as unspecified packaging. The UNSCETDG will convene in Geneva, Switzerland from June 25 through July 4. The IPPIC proposals are "informal" proposals under the rules of the United Nations and are designed to allow the experts to discuss, provide feedback, and—if time and politics permit—make a decision. There is a good chance that these proposals could be finalized by the December meeting of the UNSCETDG.
