Much-Anticipated Global Funding Forecast Predicts Increases in Worldwide R&D Expenditures

Research and development spending in the global chemical industry is expected to grow by about 5.2% in 2012 according to the recently published Battelle-R&D Magazine Annual Global R&D Funding Forecast. Industry spending is predicted to increase to more than $1.4 trillion over the same period. The report states that worldwide R&D funding growth, which is projected to increase by nearly 9% in 2012, wiil largely be driven by the Asian economies. Elsewhere in the world, growth is expected to remain strong despite the global recession. Greece is the only country among the top 40 R&D spenders that is not expected to increase its budget for research and development during the next year.
