IPPIC Proposes Addition of Special Packing Provision For Paints and Paint Products to UN Subcommittee

As part of the International Paint and Printing Inks Council (IPPIC), ACA is refining a proposal to ask the United Nations' Subcommittee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (UNSCETDG) for a Class 9 proper shipping name for paint and paint-related materials. A related IPPIC proposal will also seek permission to ship Class 9 products in plastic containers of 30 liters or less as unregulated packaging. IPPIC submitted the formal proposals in time for the deadline for the United Nation's 42nd session to be held in December in Geneva, Switzerland. The UNSCETDG convened in Geneva this summer where the IPPIC proposals were informally on the agenda. There is a good possibility that these proposals could be voted on at the December meeting of the subcommittee.
