U.S. EPA Reviews MACTs Under 'Chemical Sector' Rule

Under the Clean Air Act, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is required to review the Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT) standards eight years after they were promulgated to see if the rules need to be made more stringent. EPA has started work on the "residual risk" review of several chemical sector MACT standards, including the Miscellaneous Organic Chemical Manufacturing (MOCM) MACT that was finalized in 2003. Several "major source" resin manufacturing facilities were subject to the MOCM MACT, and, as such, may be further regulated by this rulemaking.
