22 Endocrine Disruptors Added to SIN List As Organization Calls for Ban Under REACH

The International Chemical Secretariat recently published an updated version of its Substitute It Now! (SIN) list under the EU registration, evaluation, and authorization of chemicals (REACH) law, adding 22 chemicals that it said have endocrine-disrupting properties. The substances, including parabens and phthalates, are "commonly found in toys, food packaging, and cosmetics," and should be banned under REACH (Regulation No. 1907/2006), ChemSec said. The addition of the endocrine disruptors brings to 378 the number of substances on the SIN list, which was first published in September 2008.
