The great number and variety of new products and services which were launched at the American Coatings Show (ACS) is discussed. Environmental compliance requirements and the need to meet growing expectations of both industrial customers and consumers for high-performance, environmentally friendly formulations have led suppliers to focus on the development of waterborne or high-solids technologies. Dow Coating Materials will be highlighting its low-odor technology platform and design diffusion technology. Dow will also be introducing some new coating additives, including its acid suppressed zero-VOC, APEO-free, reduced-odor rheology modifiers including Acrysol RM-845, an improved efficiency Ku builder that is a next-generation replacement for Acrysol RM-825 and RM-8W. Morchem will present its new VOC-free and NMP-free polyurethane dispersions (PUDs), which contain up to 60% solids and can be formulated for wood, textile, leather, plastic, concrete, bitumen, and other applications.
