The Paint Brushes group, C. Serio, acting Chair, discussed a design concept for measuring the amount of bristles shed from a paintbrush. D. Kaminski will build a prototype and send photos to subcommittee members. The goal is to write a method that will quantify how many full and short bristles/filament come out of a brush during break-in and use. The "shedding" is undesirable when using a brush since it can result in bristles adhering to the surface being painted. The group on Paint Rollers, D. Punches, Chair, reviewed draft #14 of WK 6749, "Proposed Test Method for Fiber Shedding of Paint Roller Covers." Editorial changes will be incorporated into Draft #15. The photos will be converted to gray-scale and reviewed to see if clarity of content is maintained.
