Global Demand Trends: Losing Traction in Early 2011

Global jet fuel usage lost some of its traction as the new year got underway. Consumption in a group of representative countries reversed course and edged lower, versus growth of nearly 3% registered in the fourth quarter of 2010 as transport fuels fed the resurgence in economic activity. The industrialized countries accounted for most of the slowdown. Demand in Europe, the US, Canada and Japan edged lower, while Australia and New Zealand reported growth of more than 6%.
