European Snapshot: Lower Refinery Output Trims Stocks

Lower refinery runs across Europe due to maintenance turnarounds cut into output of jet fuel during February. That brought stocks across the region down to 7.7 million tons in February-some 2.4% lower than year-earlier rates. France had the largest 13% shortfall from the lingering effect of labor strikes last autumn that shut down refineries across the country. But stocks in the UK, Germany and Italy also showed deficits that pushed European stocks down by 5% from the year-earlier mark.
