Airlines based in the region passed a major milestone in 2013 as continued strong gains in air travel boosted the number of passengers carried on domestic and international routes to nearly 1 billion. Higher traffic flows are translating into steady expansion in jet fuel demand at regional airports (JFI Sep.9’13). China paced the 10% growth in domestic passenger numbers to 740 million last year, according to preliminary figures from the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA).
