Bahrain Aviation Fueling Co.’s contract at Bahrain International Airport (BIA) has been renewed for another six months, until December, while the government reviews the fuel supply at the soon-to-be modernized and expanded airport. Bahrain’s minister of finance, Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Khalifa, who is responsible for the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) last week proposed “that NOGA and BIA form a joint committee to examine the status quo of selling, trading and supplying jet fuel to BIA,” under plans to boost the airport’s capacity to 13.5 million passengers/yr from less than 9 million/yr currently.
