Moscow’s regional government has announced plans to upgrade an existing crude pipeline to carry clean products, including jet fuel to Moscow airport, in a bid to satisfy growing fuel demand around the capital. The number of passengers passing through Moscow airport is expected to rise by 120% by 2020, by which time local car ownership will also have doubled. The proposed product pipeline will run from Ryazan, 125 miles southeast of Moscow where TNK-BP has a 340,000 barrels per day oil refinery, to the Volodarskaya tank farm near the capital.
