North American Snapshot: US Spurs October Revival

North American jet fuel demand picked up momentum in October following a weak showing in the third quarter. Usage in the US, Mexico and Canada climbed by 3.7% to 1.56 million barrels per day, versus no growth in the the July-September period. US needs rose by nearly 5% even as major carriers kept capacity in check and reduced their fuel liftings. The US gain offset declines in Canada of 3% and a 13% drop in Mexico, where air traffic and consumption rates plummeted following the bankruptcy of Mexicana.
