Turkey has finally revised its jet fuel demand data back to the start of 2014 with new, more accurate figures showing stronger-than-expected growth of 22% last year. Turkey burned through 3.77 million metric tons (110,000 barrels per day) of jet fuel in the first 10 months of 2015, according to the latest data submitted to the International Energy Agency (IEA), making it Europe’s fifth-largest jet consumer. Stellar Turkish demand growth came despite a crackdown on the illegal movement of tax-free aviation fuel into the automotive diesel pool and a sharp fall in tourist traffic from Russia, and is likely to continue this year (JFI Apr.27’15).
