摘要

Moscow’s new airport, Zhukovsky International, welcomed its inaugural flight on Sep. 12 at the state-owned terminal 22 miles (38 kilometers) southeast of the Russian capital. The airport’s operator, Ramport Aero, wants to carve out a low-cost niche in the Moscow aviation market, which analysts and insiders expect to grow rapidly in the next five years as renewed dynamism in the aviation sector helps spur economic recovery (JFI Aug.1’16). Zhukovsky will mainly handle flights to and from destinations in the former Soviet Union, such as Central Asia and the Caucasus, as well as Eastern Europe. Investors aim to complete a development plan that would boost the airport’s annual capacity from 4 million passengers now to 12 million by 2020.
