Asahi Kasei has positioned its membrane business as one in which it possesses superior competitiveness. Within this, the company is development polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)-type hollow fiber microfiltration (MF) membranes that are suited for treatment of large volumes of water in industrial applications, ultrafiltration (UF) membranes, and separators for lithium ion rechargeable batteries. In order to further increase profitability at the business, Asahi Kasei has recently moved to actively invest in the field.
