Taiyo Vinyl to Sharply Gut Down PVC Inventory

Japan's major polyvinyl chloride producer Taiyo Vinyl will adopt a new production-control system at its Yokkaichi,Osaka and Chiba plants,with the aim of reducing its inventory to the minimum or optimal level.The decision was made amid a sluggish Asian PVC market and gradually declining domestic demand.The company has trimmed its PVC output by 8% since December 2006.It plans to continue its production cutbacks,even though a large-scale routine maintenance shutdown is scheduled at the Yokkaichi plant during March to April.It traditionally had built up its inventory before such shutdowns.
