National 'nanomedicine project' aims at nanotech applications to medical field

The outline of a "Nanomedicine Project", devised by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), has been revealed, indicating the Japanese government's intention to promote the medical applications of nanotechnology on a full scale. The applications will extend to the use of nano-imaging technology for highly accurate diagnosing, the manufacture of nano-devices (very small medical devices) and an advanced drug delivery system; the aim is to develop advanced, non-invasive and low-in-invasive medical treatment methods and technology.
