SUSPENSION SHOCK: Redefining the diagnosis & treatment of suspension trauma

On the night of Feb.11, 2001, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department and the U.S.Border Patrol's Border, Search, Trauma and Rescue (BORSTAR) team were called out in response to a rock climber unresponsive in his harness, dangling some 200 ft. above groud. He was reported to be bouncing in and out of the flow of Mildred Falls, a large waterfall located near Julian, Calif., and a popular area for rock climbing, canyoneering and hiking.
