Around up of news from coal projects around the world. Adani Mining has awarded Downer EDI an AUS$2 billion contract for the construction of mine infrastructure, as well as the provision of other mining services, at the Carmichael coal project in Queensland's Galilee Basin. The contracts are set to run for seven years and are subject to the companies executing binding contracts. Construction of the mine is set to begin later this year, with first production expected in 2017.
