Productive mines place considerable focus on roadway development, because they know that creating top-quality infrastructure is essential for highly productive longwall panels. Longwalls with low extraction height, in particular, can advance at speeds that present serious challenges for the development teams. But speed is not the only focus. Even more important is the influence that equipment selection and its correct operation has on equipment operators' health and safety.
