GERMANY The Aachen International Mining Symposium 2014 focused on high performance mining

The 2014 Aachen International Mining Symposium (AIMS) took place 11 -12 June 2014 under the direction of Prof. Per Nicolai Martens. Focused on the theme of "High Performance Mining", the AIMS series is regarded as one of Germany's pre-eminent annual symposia for the mining industry, attracting over 300 participants from 30 countries and proving that both mining and raw materials supply are high up on the priority list of politicians, producers, equipment suppliers and governmental organisations, as well as those involved in research and academia on an international, EU and national level. More than 60 papers were presented by international experts. These gave valuable insights into operations and processes that can be used for benchmarking mining operations worldwide. Conference papers dealt with innovation and latest developments, regarding both equipment and the mining process. Process optimisation, thinking along the value chain and sensor technology were certainly topical buzzwords that featured throughout presentations.
