The South African mining industry continues to face a growing number of uncertain situations, including but not limited to: "black empowerment" without any guarantees of the contribution that will make to the industry. The country's politicians also seem unwilline to accept that the best people to run a mining industry are those who mine and market the minerals. These same politicians are pushing the industry towards a path that leads to an as-yet unknown destination.
