The thermal coal market should expect another difficult year, according to a recent report from Bof A Merrill Lynch Global Research. The report - entitled Coal under pressure - warns that "the worst is not yet over for the thermal coal market". Despite some supply disruptions caused by Hurricane Sandy, civil unrest in South Africa and, most recently, strikes and regulatory action in Colombia, the thermal coal market remained oversuppiied through 2012 and into the beginning of 2013.
