Vertical conveyors and FKC-Lake Shore have been synonymous for almost 25 years. FKC-Lake Shore has a long, rich history in the shaft hoisting market. With roots that date back more than a century the Lake Shore brand is known for high quality high availability vertical conveyance for personnel and material around the world. With advances in technology, today's vertical conveyors (also commonly referred to as vertical belts) are capable of reaching lift heights of 700 m (2296 ft.). Belts come in either steel-corded or textile configurations. The steel-corded belt is used in applications where there is a high volume of material being moved, or in very deep shafts. The textile belts can be designed using a variety of cover stocks and come with single and multi-layer tensile members to provide diversity for unique projects. The real strengths of the FKC-Lake Shore vertical conveyor are that it occupies very little room in the shaft, is completely unsupported in the shaft and consumes less power than a traditional hoisting system. These features reduce overall installation and operating costs by eliminating the need for shaft steel installation and maintenance (no supports or guides are required in the shaft for the belt). There is also room left in the shaft for a cage or an elevator. It also allows for movement of equipment in a large diameter shaft and can reduce cost when constructing a new production shaft by allowing the client to sink a smaller diameter shaft.
