RAG Coal International AG belongs to the German RAG group and comprises the company's international coal production, coal trade and sales, mining technology and equipment manufacturing divisions. With a total production (excluding trade volumes) of approximately 67.1 million t, RAG Coal International AG belongs to the world's largest coal producer. The company's international coal mining subsidiaries operate in the US under RAG American Coal Holding with the RAG American Coal Company and Riverton Coal Production Company. In AUSTRALIA, rag coal International's different operations are under the umbrella of RAG Australia Coal Pty Ltd; its Venezuelan operations are known as Carbones del Guasare.In the US, the company owns a total of 16 surface and underground mines, of which three mines are temporarily closed (Figure 1).
