In 2010, Trolex Ltd, a manufacturer of sensors and sensing systems, celebrated its 50th anniversary. Established in 1960, the company started with just four men in a shed with a vision and, even in that first year of operation, it was designing pumping schemes and installing panels for some of the biggest mining pits in the UK. Since then, John Pierce-Jones, one of the original founders, has taken Trolex forward and today the company serves the multiple markets of mining, tunnelling, industry, gas recovery and rail, with a full range of gas detection and environmental monitoring systems and equipment. This includes gas detection, temperature, flow, pressure, vibration and level sensors from basic monitoring through to complex systems with SCADA interface.
