Coal mine operators in China are increasingly demanding a larger size product because it commands a premium price. But the same mines are finding it difficult to achieve the right coal size because traditional conical shearer drums tend to burst and pulverise the coal, creating more dust, fines and smaller product size coal. ESCO Hydra Mining Division's shearer drums provide a solution. The company, which has designed and manufactured shearer drums for 46 years, produces a drum with a radial cutting system that cuts coal like a knife, generating less fines and larger product size and with a 130 mm reach radial pick, it creates 100% more pick penetration than the 100 mm reach conical pick used in most applications.
