DEMAND IS CHALLENGING EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURERS

The rapid degree of industrialisation in threshold and developing countries in Asia and South America is triggering huge demand for raw materials, and particularly coal. China tripled its coal production from just under 1 billion short tpa in 2000 to 3.1 billion short tpa in 2010. In India, coal consumption is expected to triple to 2 billion short t over the next 20 years and, in South America, a significant rise in the demand for raw materials is also forecast. The international mining equipment industry will supply the equipment and machinery to meet this demand.
