Natural coal is variable in fragment size and hardness. To crush coal into acceptable fragment size would conventionally mean that stationary or mobile crushers are used before the coal is delivered to the power plants or other end users. Crushing coal with stationary or mobile crushers usually means building large production lines with wheel loaders, trucks, transport conveyors and other equipment. A high number of personnel are also required to serve the production lines in order to match the required productivity. As a result, the cost/t of crushed coal can be quite high and the demand for space is big.
