A New Force In Mongolian Coal

Hunnu Coal is aiming to become a major force in the exploration and development of coking and thermal coal deposits in the South Gobi and Middle Gobi Provinces of Mongolia. Since listing on the Australian Securities Exchange last February, the company has already secured access to fourteen projects across Mongolia's premier coal basins. Energy demand is increasing, especially in China. Hunnu's deposits are ideally situated on Mongolia's southern border, close to China's northern manufacturing base. The company expects to be able to supply thermal coal to the Mongolian domestic market and thermal and coking coal to the Chinese export market. The Japanese, Koreans and Russians are also extremely keen to access Mongolian coal, so the company's export opportunities will expand once the Mongolian Government's proposed railway line plan, announced in July, is completed.
