Churchill Mining plc listed on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange in April 2005 and, like many exploration companies, almost had a false start after making its first move out of Australia with the acquisition of the Sendawar Coal Project in East Kalimantan in April 2006. Its long-term business plan was always to leverage off the rampant growth in demand for minerals and energy in China and India and especially the opportunity to service their soaring power requirements.
