There's been no shortage of mining news emerging from China over the past year. Projects such as the Aricom-Chinalco Titanium Sponge Plant joint venture and Anglo American's first venture into the territory, fierce snow storms and underground coal mine explosions resulting from poorly stored explosives, have all made the headlines in the last 12 months. Beyond the headlines, however, how well mining businesses pursue risk management and corporate governance and transfer financial risk from the balance sheet is critical to overcoming obstacles and continued success in China.
